I attempt to depict not objective reality but rather the subjective emotions and responses to my surroundings and in Particular to the landscape I inhabit....

Coast to Countryside comes to Enniscorthy Castle

Coast to Countryside is a joint collaboration between myself and Fellow Artist Shanon O’Bracken

We both explore the landscapes around us in our art and our work compliments each  other

Shanon uses a delicate palette of both colour and texture while I jump right in with bold colour and texture

Both our work is about atmosphere and felling and are Ying and Yang to each other

We had a very sucessful exhibition (Sept 14th t0 Nov 9th)run in The Presentation Arts center in Enniscorthy and from that show The Enniscorthy Castle offered us exhibiting rooms on the top floor of the castle beside their permament  Eilen Gray exhibition until the end of January 2025

Feature article about my Life & Art

I was approached a couple of weeks ago by a Journalist about a feature piece for the Wicklow People newspaper and David Medcalf came out and interviewed me, although it was more like a chat for a few hours and then the article was published last Wednesday in the Wicklow people and it was the centerfold.

It was a truly lovely piece and I am so delighted by it and I have to say flattering photos that I though I should share it on my site

Elemental – solo exibition at Birr Theatre and Arts centre

Elemental is a s0lo exhibitions of my original oil paintings in The Birr Theatre and Arts centre, running until the end of June 2023

Elemental is an exhibition of paintings that evolve from my fascination with the ever shifting influence of the elements on the sea and landscape. In each work I try to capture the magical relationships that occur between these elements (light,Wind & Rain) and the landscape. Portraying  the everchanging theater of the natural world and  creating it on canvas is an celebration and expression of the power and importance of nature and the importance of our connection with it

The sky holds a fundamental attraction for me and acts as a stage that showcases the force and power of the elements, it humbles us with our smallness yet connects us with the immensity of nature..

Help me fund my Studio !

I am very lucky to live in a beautiful place surrounded by amazing views, my work as an artist is inspired by my surroundings

Some of my beautiful views…

I live in a small home shared with 3 dogs, my daughter and Husband, I have a small corner to try and work in and often its very hard to do anything, as my painting space is right at the front door and there is a lot of comings and goings…

An idea of the chaos!

I have dreamed and saved for a wood cabin to turn into a studio and managed to get the deposit and most of the cost of the cabin but the last year has completely thrown a major spanner into my dream and I am short by €5500, I know this is not a major issue compared to whats going on in the world and there are far more serious situations to be in but for me and my mental heath it’s a big thing, my creativity and expression of that has been crampted and crammed ever smaller, I so need a space to grow in and expand my work

Imagine my studio here!

I am looking to raise the balance of what I cant scrap togather myself, it would make a huge difference to my life and allow me to keep painting and to paint larger works…..

I will match evrey donation with a Gift voucher to the same value for any work on my site or come down for a studio visit and select a work directly….

The story behind this episode

In this episode, Nick Knowles his loyal team and hundreds of volunteers head to Scunthorpe, for a truly emotional and inspiring build, that deals with a double grief.

In August 2007 tragedy first struck when Natasha (7), Caroline and Paul’s eldest daughter, died in a tragic accident at home, in their garage. Natasha rode a mini-moto, into the garage that Paul built and hit her head on a wall-mounted cupboard. She said, she was okay but within minutes became critically unwell, due to a massive head trauma. In hospital, they desperately tried to save her, but her head swelled terribly. It was horrific and the couple were told for Natasha’s sake, that she needed to be taken off life-support and allowed to die.

Caroline and Paul were unable to come to terms with what happened on that tragic day. Paul always blamed himself; he was a huge motorbike fan and so, whilst grieving, crushed every bike he owned. Some relief came, when in September 2012, daughter Paige Hope was born. Paul had had a vasectomy reversal to try for another child, to help deal with their loss. Brother, Reece chose her name – he said ‘Paige is a new chapter in our life’

Unfortunately tragedy struck, for a second time, when in March 2016, steel worker Paul complained of chest pains after returning from work. Tragically, a few days later, he suffered a heart attack, had stents fitted and after a few days at home suffered a cardiac arrest, in front of Caroline and Paige, from which he never regained consciousness. Caroline is convinced, his anxiety, was guilt and stress over his daughter’s death.

For the next 10 Days, Paul was on a life support machine. Caroline was then forced, once again, to deal with the trauma of switching off the life-support machine, to her husband of 28 years. On both occasions, she was brave enough to donate her loved ones organs, to help other families.

Now Caroline (44), Reece (15) and Paige (6) are grieving and trying to re-build their lives without their father, husband and sister.  But there are two huge obstacles to their mental health; the daily visual reminders of the garage and the conservatory, where their two loved ones died and that’s where DIYSOS and the kind volunteers step in to change their life.

Christmas is going online!

It seems that increasingly life and shopping is going online due to Covid19 hopefully not for ever but in the meantime its a great way to safely shop and browse plus you can do have a coffee and stay on the couch whats not to like!

I will be launching a Christmas shop on Oct 21st 2020 filled with small stocking fillers up to Large paintings for the house.

I am always happy to gift wrap and write a personal card if you want to send the painting directly to that lucky person and I will send you a photo of the wrapped gift and give you the tracking details so that you know when its been delivered…

Every purchase is shipped within 2 or 3 working days and can be delivered on the East coast within 2 days so not excuses for being late!

I am also happy and always enjoy getting commissions, so if there is a special place or a painting that has already sold, contact me and we can arrange a painting to whatever size or budget needed

Wedding Season

Spring and  especially Summer are filled with he chimes of Wedding bells and it can be hard to find a present that is truly personal, original and that will also turn into a family heirloom!

Paintings are a great way to celebrate Life and make brilliant wedding presents, a painting can capture a mood, a place and transport the viewer back to those memories.

They can be meditative and allow the mind to wander, wonder and dream – a window to another land…

I have put to gather a small collection of paintings that I think capture the joy of life and love that a wedding day is filled with and of course I am always delighted to be commissioned to paint a special place, one of my recent commissions was to paint the Cliffs of Moher at Sunset with a sky filled with scarlet clouds for a wedding present an American couple who had gotten engaged there….
