Description
A painting from my series of works inspired and based on the Sugarloaf mountain in Co.Wicklow..
The Sugarloaf makes a majestic local Landmark and dominates the skyline..
I drive by it regularly and am always looking out for it, every time I see it it always seems fresh and new, it has an ever changing quality thanks to the swirling ever changing clouds..
As a child I was told it was a dormant Volcano, so it has always triggered my imagination with visions of eruptions!
This painting is Oil on Canvas and is framed, I have used bright dramatic colours and have allowed the paint in parts to form it own marks, a little nod to rain that so often appears.. I have also allowed the bear canvas to peek through in places, as I wanted a feeling of empty space, that can be evident in the landscape….
